LIGHTNING (2011): Named in honor of the good natured horse that took me for a sunrise ride through the Mountain Pine Ridge Reserve, this work echoes the prevalence of nature as wisdom in Belize. Superimposed on the montage are painted carvings found on the walls of Caracol, a significant Mayan site in the Cayo District. TURNEFFE ESCAPE (2011): Of the outer atolls in Belize, Turneffe is the closest to Belize City. It offers sublime diving and marine diversity in a secluded setting which allows your imagination to roam uninterrupted. This work captures the breezy, laid back feel of this sandy outpost, crowned by the beauty of Belize’s national flower – the black orchid. My trip to Belize in December 2010 followed on the footsteps of Australia; I traveled to renew my connection with nature and spirit. Belize is a land of gentle people, breathtaking Mayan architecture and expansive natural beauty.
